Biography

Nelson Dockery II, ESQ.

Nelson Dockery is a licensed attorney, co-author of the book Charlies Goes to the Doctor, and founder of The Dockery Law Firm. Mr. Dockery is proud to introduce the first black-owned Law Firm in South Texas. He is dedicated to representing the legal needs of those in the Rio Grande Valley, where he calls home, and Texas at large.

Mr. Nelson Dockery grew up in Mission, TX as the second of three children to Jamaican immigrant parents, Nelson Dockery M.D. and Dona Cooper-Dockery, M.D. Mr. Dockery went on to pursue a degree in Political Science and Minor in History from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2017. Mr. Dockery received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2022 from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, where he excelled and achieved recognition on the Dean’s List. After graduation, Mr. Dockery sat for the July 2022 Texas Bar Exam receiving a passing score in October 2022. In the interim period to obtaining his license, Mr. Dockery worked at a Medical Malpractice Defense law firm as a law clerk and gained valuable experience in pre-trial litigation. Early in his professional career Mr. Dockery realized he could make a greater impact on his community by opening The Dockery Law Firm, PLLC in 2024.

Mr. Dockery’s love for people has propelled him in volunteering his time in helping underserved communities in countries such as Haiti and Ghana. Mr. Dockery also enjoys serving his local community where he volunteers at his neighborhood food bank, mentors youth, and actively participates at his local church, Mission Hope Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In his leisure time, Mr. Dockery loves to explore different cultures through their cuisine as an avid cook, he also plays the piano and clarinet.
